In Thailand, the spirit house (san phra phum) is central to maintaining respectful relations with the guardian spirit of the land. Spirit houses provide punctuation in the rhythm of life, marking entrance and exit, and beginning and ending of the day. They are often decorated with candles, incense and fresh flowers and adorn gardens, courtyards, balconies, shops, businesses, and roadsides across Thailand.

In the West, the spirit house can be easily, and respectfully adapted as a symbol for natural harmony and balance.

Because of the legendary rot resistance of teak, your spirit house can be placed indoors or out (in most climates).  Indoors it will maintain its finished look for many years, outdoors watch as the weathered, silvery gray spirit house develops special character and beauty.
